Sinners

These breweries need a good kick up the backside. Give them a miss.

..

The perfect advertisement for mediocre Marston's.

GREEN KING BITTER

Ok, let's go the whole hog and say that this brewery must be the worst in the country for real ale. The bitter is insipid at best and actually unpleasant at worst. It has no redeeming features. I feel heartily sorry for those who live in the brewery's "catchment" area.

GREEN KING  ABBOT ALE

What can one say about this strongish dark beer. "Don't bother", seems to be pertinent.

RUDDLES COUNTY (Greene King)

Suffolk's equivalent of Wolverhampton and Dudley, i.e a large regional brewery with no concern for it's customers has taken over brewing this once great beer. Needless to say it has ruined it.

WADWORTHS

This once proud brewery produced some of the best ale around. 6X was it's flagship beer and was a beautifully malty strong bitter, nowadays it is a watery, uninteresting imitation, fit only for the drain.

MARSTONS PEDIGREE

What can I say about this once great brewery? All it produces now is at best a pale imitation of its flagship beer Pedigree. To my palate it always has a nasty metallic edge to it. Reason? Overstretching on production has meant largely abandoning brewing on the famous union system and the brewery has tried to replicate the unique flavour chemically but failed. Also the transition to a national brand has sadly meant compromising on quality. Only to be drunk if there is no alternative.
